Description

Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin

CPR 603 Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin is a high performance two pack Epoxy resin, having exceptional resistance to aggressive acids, solvents and alcohols e.g. 96-99% Sulphuric acid, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, and Methanol.

The product has a low viscosity and rapid curing characteristics, even at low temperatures.

Typical Properties

  • Outstanding chemical resistance
  • Tough, durable and abrasion resistant
  • Excellent mechanical properties
  • Clear, but may be readily pigmented
  • Low temperature cure
  • Rapid curing characteristics
  • Convenient 2:1 volume mix (Base to Curing Agent)

Directions for Use

Surface Preparation Concrete

  • Concrete shall be a minimum of 21 days old and/or the residual moisture content shall be below 6%.
  • Ensure that the concrete is clean and free from dust, laitance, grease, oil, curing compound and existing paint finishes, etc.
  • Blow holes and defective concrete shall be made good using a proprietary repair compound e.g.  CPR 719 -Epoxy Concrete Patch Repair Mortar or CPR 726 Concrete Re-surfacer.
  • Suitable mechanical treatment such as vacuum grit blasting is the preferred treatment prior to application as this ensures a mechanical ‘key’ for the coating.

Surface Preparation Steel

  • Steel surfaces shall be grit blasted to a nominal Sa 2.5 Swedish standard.
  • All dust and grease shall be removed prior to coating application.

Mixing

  • Pour the contents of the CURING AGENT container into the BASE container and thoroughly mix, preferably by mechanical means until a uniform colour is achieved.

Application

  • Wet out the substrate with CPR 603 Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin, applying by brush or roller.
  • Soak the reinforcement mesh with CPR 603 Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin and apply to the wetted out substrate.
  • Ensure that no air is occluded, spike rollering if necessary.
  • Wet out any dry spots with more mixed resin.
  • Should a coloured finish be required, then a suitable pigment may be incorporated prior to application.
  • A clear top coat may be applied following curing of the underlying system.

Equipment Cleaning

Curing

  • Allow to cure for a minimum of 4 hours @ 20°C prior to overcoating or light foot traffic.
  • Allow a minimum of 5 days cure @ 20°C for optimum chemical resistance.

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Store in dry conditions between 10°C and 25°C.
  • Do not expose to freezing conditions.
  • CPR 603 Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Packaging

  • CPR 603 Acid Resistant Epoxy Laminating Resin is supplied in 5kg, 15kg and 75kg packs.

Coverage

  • Dependent upon type of mesh reinforcement and substrate profile, but typically in the range of 0.5kg to 1.5kg/m² overall.
