Metal Primer – Solvented

CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented is a two pack, high solids, Epoxy, anti-corrosive primer designed for the protection of steelwork, aluminium and galvanizing. Whilst optimum performance will only be achieved by applying to well prepared substrates, CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented will adhere well to minimally prepared surfaces.

CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented has a long overcoating window and provides excellent corrosion protection.

Directions for Use

Surface Preparation

• Steel/Galvanised steel: Any rust, mill scale and other contaminants should be removed by gritblasting to Swedish Standard Sa 2.5.
• Reduced levels of surface preparation, e.g. wire brushing solvent wiped.

Mixing

• Mix the two components together, preferably by mechanical means, until a uniform consistency has been achieved.

Application

• Apply the material by brush, roller or airless spray, at a nominal rate of 8-10m² per litre per coat.

Equipment Cleaning

• Clean equipment with CPR 200 Tool Clean Solvent immediately after use.

Curing

• CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented will be touch dry following 4 hours cure @ 20ºC in conditions of good ventilation.
• Following 6 hours cure @ 20ºC the material may be recoated.
• Allow 7 days cure@20ºC for optimum chemical resistance and mechanical properties.
• The primer may be allowed to age and weather for a maximum period of up to 3 months prior to top coating.

Storage and Shelf Life

• Store in dry conditions, out of direct sunlight at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C.
• Avoid frost.
• CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in original, unopened containers in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Packaging

• CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented is supplied in 1ltr and 5ltr packs

Coverage

• 1 litre of CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented will be sufficient to treat 8-10m² of surface, achieving an overall dry film thickness of 80-100 microns.

Limitations

• Do not apply to wet surfaces.
• Do not apply at temperatures of 5°C or less.

Health and Safety

• Avoid contact of the material with skin and eyes.
• Wear gloves and goggles.
• Wash off splashes immediately with soap and water.
• Any eye contamination must be rapidly irrigated with copious amounts of clean water, and immediate medical attention sought.

• CPR 411 – Metal Primer – Solvented shall be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
